New Delhi: Rakesh Nath, a 26-year-old journalist and writer based in Kerala, has won the second edition of the Emerging Writers` Award, an initiative of the Kovalam Literary Festival to recognise young talent in Malayalam language writing.
Nath, hailing from Kottayam, is a short story writer, scriptwriter, poet, cinematographer and a documentary filmmaker.
He has contributed to the collection of short stories "Zero+Zero=Big Bang", written a novel "Njaan Express", and has worked in various publications, Kovalam Literary Festival director and founder Binoo John said here Saturday.
One of Nath`s scripts has been accepted by the National Georgraphic Channel.
Last year, the award was won by Sahira Thangal, a young author and poet who writes about social and gender issues. As a professional, she spent several years in Dubai, from where she derived her modern sensibilities.
